Seeing everyone and making room for them.
The educational staff at the inclusive school met "sweet Yahli" with eyes that saw him for who he is, and an open heart that cherished his different qualities. After a deep and meaningful educational process to integrate Yahli, his self-confidence grew, and he experienced significant academic, emotional, and social breakthroughs. Yahli now feels he belongs and is loved unconditionally, wrapped in an entire staff that sees him.
Yahli’s mother phrased it best in a moving personal letter that touched all our hearts:
"This letter is my message to all those engaged in the work of education. Everyone must internalize and understand how important it is to believe in children—in students—especially at the start of their young journey, to prevent them from being transparent. Happily, I was privileged, and above all—Yahli, my son. I see Yahli's joy for life and his motivation. He arrives early, participates in lessons, volunteers, helps other children in class, and of course, when he encounters difficulty, he does not hesitate to ask the teachers for help. I have no doubt that this is all due to the significant process he went through together with the school principal and the educational staff. There is a responsible adult there to signal to him that he is not transparent."
